5 Habits to Keep Your Home Clean and organized

Your home is the place where you start and end your day. Whether you are aware of it or not, the physical space in which you live and spend a lot of your time has an important role to play in how you act and feel . Having your home in a messed up state can have a variety of effects on your life. Our mind cannot live completely independent from our environment; therefore, keeping the home tidy, organized, and clean is significant.

Here are some daily habits you need to imbibe to keep your home clean and tidy always:

1. Make Your Bed Daily

Although some people think that making the bed is a waste of time, it really makes a huge difference in how tidy the room looks and only takes a couple of minutes. It’s also a good start off the day ___climbing into a made bed after a long day is really soothing .

2. Keep Basic Cleaning Supplies Close

Try to have all of your bathrooms stocked with basic cleaning supplies such as  microfiber cloths , a toilet scrub brush and a multipurpose cleaner. This makes it so much faster and easier to give the toilet a quick swipe instead of having to track down cleaning supplies. Normalize doing these basic tasks as you see the need – most of them take only a few minutes – and it will really reduce how often you need to deep clean.

3. Clean as You Go.
This one may seem obvious but it’s something that most people often don’t do. Putting things away as you go doesn’t really take up much time but it will definitely make the difference between a tidy house and a messy house at the end of the day.  Little things like taking your clothes off by your closet and either hanging them back up or putting them directly in the laundry, washing the dirty dishes immediately after use  instead of just leaving them in the sink would certainly go a long way in making your home look neater.

4.Get rid of Clutter

Not only does clutter make a house look messy, but it makes it harder to keep clean, too. Try the two-basket, one-bag technique: Take two empty laundry baskets and an empty trash bag into the first room you want to declutter. Fill one basket with dirty laundry and the other with items that don’t belong in that room. Fill the trash bag with trash. Then, take each basket and the bag into the next room. Put away items in the clutter basket that belong in this room, and continue adding laundry to the other basket and trash to the bag.

5. Create a Cleaning Checklist

Feeling overwhelmed by the sheer number of chores you need to complete? Write a simple checklist and post it somewhere prominently, like the front of the fridge. You  don’t have to do everything at once .Tackle one or two items a day, and involve other members of the family if possible. Cleaning doesn’t have to be a depressing experience either – put on your favorite music and listen as you go! You’ll feel more satisfied and less overwhelmed as the list slowly depletes. Once it’s complete, consider a cleaning schedule to address one or two chores each day – when cleaning is divided into smaller sessions, it feels much less daunting.

All these are just simple habits to imbibe with a little intentional planning.  There will definitely be times when this is not possible, but do it when you can and you will save yourself a ton of cleaning up in the end.  A straightened home with a made bed and pile-free floor will not only bring happiness and organization to your life, it will also change your life.
